Lockers

Beginning January 2010 all graduate Teaching Assistants will be required to pay for their use of lockers. The fee for one locker will be $10 a semester. There will be no exceptions. Also beginning 2010 the Cage will be allowed to bill your locker dues to your What I Owe page.

Lockers may be rented for a school semester for $20. There are 87 different lockers for storage located on the 4th floor of the CMB building. Lockers are helpful for storing personal belongings and your personal film and editing accessories.

Locker priority is given to those students who already have lockers, who have the option of renewing their locker rental at the start of each academic year. After renewals, available lockers are open to undergraduates and MFAs. You do not have to be a production student to want a locker, Media Studies and Screenwriting students are also welcome to lockers. If you would like a locker, stop by the Student Production Resource Center office (CMB 2.107, the caged room NEXT to Equipment Check-out) to sign-up or e-mail the Cage, Cage@austin.utexas.edu

If you want a locker, it’s a 3 step process:
*Pick the locker you want, put a lock on it and IMMEDIATELY
*E-mail the CAGE (cage@austin.utexas.edu) with Your Name, your E-mail, locker number, and classification (undergrad, grad, staff, faculty, etc.)
*Put the $20 check or $20 cash in an envelope in the CAGE mailbox (CMA 6.118) with your name, e-mail, and locker number on the front of the envelope.

NOTE: Staff and Faculty each get one free locker but they have to let the Cage know which locker it is so that the lock doesn’t accidentally get cut. Locks will be cut one month into the semester if people have not paid their locker fee.

Lockers cost $20 for the semester, $30 for a year if paid all at once.

However, we here at the Cage are human. If anyone is in desperate need of a locker/storage space and can’t afford their dues, please don’t hesitate to communicate your situation via e-mail or in person and an agreement can possibly be made where you work off the locker dues at the Cage.

You might ask yourself, where do my locker dues go? What does the Cage use that money for? The locker revenue is the main money source for the Cage. The Cage then uses that money to assist the students in various ways. For example, the money is used to provide the latest production literature and maintain this website. The Film Festival Fund is also supported by the locker revenue. Your locker dues are very important.

If your lock does get cut, The Cage is not responsible for your items. They will be left in your locker unless otherwise noted.
